Taormina.
The excursion begins with a visit to Taormina, a jewel of eastern Sicily. The city of Taormina boasts a millennial history, a crossroads of peoples and cultures that over the millennia have shaped what is today one of the most evocative places in all of Sicily.
One of the main testimonies of Taormina’s greatness in classical and Roman times is the ancient Theater, witness to the cruel game of gladiators. Today it hosts international cultural events such as Taormina Arte and the Taormina Film Fest.
The excursion to Taormina will take you for a stroll through its charming alleys, where local artisans display ancient craftsmanship in ceramics and delicious local products.
Etna.
The excursion continues on Europe’s largest volcano and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2013, a theater of myths and legends. For the Greeks, it was indeed the forge of Hephaestus, the god of fire. The excursion will take you to an altitude of 1800 meters where you will admire one of the most impressive natural places in the world.
Stops: during the excursion to Mount Etna, we will stop at the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Madonna della Sciara, an ancient place of worship and pilgrimage, we will visit the Red Mountains and the Silvestri Craters. Brief stop in Nicolosi, called the Gateway to Etna due to its position close to the volcano, and Zafferana Etnea for a tasting of typical Sicilian products.
